ROCK & ROLLER BY NIGHT

Outside of marketing, I work as a self-employed musician. I play guitar and sing in a blues-rock duo called Ego Mechanics and have an instrumental solo project called Lunar Statues, both projects which I founded. I have over ten years of live performance experience and have recorded and co-produced 3 EPs and numerous singles.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

I grew up listening to alternative rock bands like The White Stripes, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, and others. These bands, White Stripes, in particular, inspired me to pick up the guitar. I started playing on a cheap acoustic my grandmother gave to me, and when I was in high school, I saved up to buy my own and taught myself how to play completely by ear. Most evenings were spent in my bedroom writing songs or playing along with my CD collection. Eventually, I came out of my room to play my first solo show at a local outdoor theater in my hometown right after graduating high school.

During my freshman year of college, I began performing some more solo gigs at one of the local coffeehouses on my college campus. Towards the end of my college career, I started to hit a stride in my songwriting and playing. I recorded a few demo tracks with some friends and released them online in 2012 & 2013. I attempted to start a band with the momentum of these recordings but by graduation, things had fizzled out.

THE START OF SOMETHING

After graduating from college, I pursued my music career more seriously. I recorded a solo EP under the moniker Seth Arp and The Hands that released in December of 2014. With aspirations to do more, in October of 2015, I moved to Chicago. I found a drummer and in June of 2016 began performing under the band name Ego Mechanics. By October, we released our debut EP "Wreck."

An alternative blues-rock duo I formed in 2016. We use a combination of melody and raw power to craft songs that call back to the glory days of instrument-based DIY musicianship. Influences from alt-rock heavyweights like Jack White, The Black Keys, and Arctic Monkeys can be found within the creases of our music.

LUNAR STATUES

Lunar Statues is a chillwave solo project I started in the summer of 2018. Inspired by the natural world, the music creates soundscapes that utilize guitar and electronic drums and synthesizers. The project is heavily influenced by bands like The xx, Tycho, and El Ten Eleven.

AND NOW...

In the ten years since I began pursuing my music career, I have played numerous venues in the Chicagoland area, performed at Milwaukee's Summerfest Music Festival and in Orlando, Florida. My music has been featured on 107.1 FM CHIRP Radio. In April of 2018, Ego Mechanics was approached by Grammy-winning engineer, Chris Steinmetz to record music together. Chris has worked with artists like Paul Simon, Rhianna, Alice In Chains, Miles Davis, and more. On June 12, 2020, we released our 2nd EP "This Other Side," which we co-produced with Chris. In total, I have released 1 full-length album, 3 EPs, and 3 singles.
